I have completed 2 new Bible studies and the accompanying set of DVD lectures. Used together, they create a 10-week video-driven Bible study for individual use, in a home discipleship group, or a church setting.

The first study is on the Book of Ruth entitled "One Day Your Prince will Come." The Old Testament story of Ruth is one of the clearest pictures of redemption we see enacted in real life human characterization. Ruth was a Moabite, married to a Jew, whose family had fled to her pagan country in the midst of a drought. Ruth was widowed without having had children, making her especially vulnerable. Ruth attached herself to her widowed mother-in-law, Naomi. Ruth declared her allegiance to Naomi and Ruth received her God as her own. Ruth returned with Naomi to her homeland of Bethlehem. Penniless and without any means of support, the two women were at the mercy of God's people for support. God raised up a man named Boaz. He fell in love with the young widow Ruth and took her as his bride. The union put Ruth, a former pagan, in the Messianic line of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ruth's story of redemption is a beautiful illustration of God's free gift of salvation, offered to us by grace through faith. Our Prince has come and His name is Jesus!

This 192-page Bible study workbook weaves the love story of Ruth and Boaz into the modern-day story of Christ and His bride the church. The workbook has homework discussion questions making it ideal for personal study and/or small group discipleship in a home or church setting. The DVD set has 10-accompanying 45-minute lectures to complete the study.

The second study we have ready to print is "Lighten Up!" on the Book of 2 Peter. After the resurrection and prior to His ascension, the Lord made it clear Peter would die a martyr's death. Peter had just denied the Lord 3 times and I doubt he could imagine God would ever use him again. Yet here the Lord was prophesied his death as a martyr. On the Day of Pentecost Peter preached and more than 3000 were saved. From that time on Peter was a force to be reckoned with for the Lord!

Peter understood how to live in a temporal world with an eternal view. Through this study we will learn how to master the art of traveling light and seeing the world through our Father's eyes. We will learn how to unpack the emotional baggage that is slowing down our forward progress with Christ. We will be challenged to lay aside the encumbrances that entangle us and the besetting sins that make us stumble and run the race set before us with endurance and our eyes fixed on Jesus.

Like the Bible study on Ruth, "Lighten Up!" is a 192- page workbook with homework and discussion questions. The accompanying DVDs create a 10-week video driven Bible study for personal study, in home discipleship groups, or as part of Women's Ministry in a church setting.

To date we have self-published 7 Bible studies and produced accompanying 10-set DVDs. The process of producing the DVDs and self-publishing the books is quite costly but it has enabled us to get our resources in over 50 churches and 3 countries. Countless lives have been touched by the Word of God and homes have been altered for the kingdom of God through the ministry of Standing Near the Cross. Our recent personal financial implosion has made it impossible to underwrite our ministry. We ask that you prayerfully consider financially supporting our ministry and helping to underwrite this project.
